Dear Reader,
If the words diet come out of your mouth one more time I am going to throw some greasy, fatty bacon in your face!
My Paleo is not a diet; It's a lifestyle, My lifestyle.
After trying a number of different types of Paleo and Primal eating, I have decided to make my own Paleo; one that abides by the traditional Paleo lifestyle 'rules', but caters to my preferences.
Everyone is entitled to their own Paleo; but this is My Paleo, so if you disagree with it, I really don't give a sh*t :)
Ok so I'm still trying to figure out how to use a computer, bear with my image for now.
Meat- Duh!
Any kind, including sausages and various burgers as long as they do not contain any non-paleo ingredients (ie. corn syrup, modified corn starch, wheat bread crumbs, any words that are hard to pronounce). Unfortunately I am not a fan of steak or ground beef, never was; I do however love beef short rib and beef brisket. As for the other animals, I love everything else (minus liver)-- chicken, turkey, pork, bison, duck, lamb, goat, moose (does anyone know where I can get some moose? Damn that stuff is good!)
Eggs- Everyday.
I limit myself to two yolks per day, unlimited egg whites. I aim for organic free range brown eggs.
Fish- Yes.
I should eat it more often. My top picks for seafood include salmon, sablefish, scallops, lobster, and crab.
Vegetables- Yes.
Including sweet potatoes once in a while. I have attempted 'Strict Paleo' before, which does not allow nightshade vegetables (bell peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, sweet potatoes), but I felt it eliminated too many nutrient-dense vegetables.
Fruit- Yes.
Bananas, mangoes, strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, and apples are my favourites, and probably the reason(s) why I don't dream of Betty Crocker Brownies anymore.
Wine- It's Paleo!
After extensive research I have come to the conclusion that both red and white wines are Paleo. As for other alcohol, I may indulge in vodka or tequila once every so often, perhaps call it a Primal day. What about beer you say? Giving up beer was tough, but not as difficult as bread.
Cocoa/ Dark Chocolate- Damn right it is!
Yes, I eat dark chocolate and no probably not in moderation. However, Paleo pros say dark chocolate is Paleo as long as it is 70% cocoa or higher. I usually aim for 80-90%.
Steve's PaleoGoods- My lifesavers.
http://www.stevespaleogoods.com/ The PaleoStix, PaleoJerky, and PaleoKrunch bars are my favourite. But beware, the Apple Pie PaleoKrunch Cereal is way too delicious, I find I consume it in un-caveman-like quantities.
Healthy Fats- Yes.
Olive, coconut, avocado, flaxseed and nut/seed oils are the norm. I use olive oil to cook or in salad dressings, coconut oil for Paleo baked goodies, and avocado in its purest form diced, sliced, pureed or smushed. For me, the other kinds are just unnecessary, and I'd rather spent my money on meat.
Now for the Paleo things I choose not to consume:
The definitely not Paleo category...
I began practicing Paleo 80/20 in January 2013, and adopted it as a lifestyle June 1, 2013. I have been 100% (My) Paleo since then, but indulge in a Primal day once every few weeks.
Feel free to criticize My Paleo, but just remember-- this is MY lifestyle, not yours.

Now for the Paleo things I choose not to consume:
- I choose not to eat Ghee or Grass Fed butter; it just doesn't appeal to me.
- I choose not to eat nuts, seeds, or nut butters in whole form anymore either. Although these are in fact very Paleo, the key to eating nuts and seeds like a caveman is to do so in moderation-- and that is just not a word that exists in my vocabulary. To the many Paleo people that experience this continuous overindulgence in nuts, seeds, and nut butters-- I feel your pain. Those delicious little bastards are hard to give up, but it is either way too many or none at all.
- I choose not to eat raw milk cheese on a regular basis; as I look at it as being in the Primal category, not Paleo. Although, when indulging in a Primal day, I definitely do melt some of this delicious goodness over some bacon wrapped anything.
The definitely not Paleo category...
- wheat
- corn
- rice
- other grains
- dairy
- legumes (including peas, beans, soy, peanuts)
- potatoes (excluding sweet potatoes)
- sugar
- refined vegetable oils
- processed foods
